Head Over Heels

Hey Lactating Ladies!

So I was watching one of my fav movies the other day called Kinky Boots. I know it sounds naughty but its a British dramady (drama meets comedy). Its a great movie because in the end each character realizes that they have to be true to themselves and care for others around them. One of the lines really resonates with me. One of the leading characters is a drag queen and says that heels are "three inches of tubular sex". Ok so the line is kinda out there but the thought behind it is so true. Heels make a woman stand different, feel confident, and make her calves look awesome. But how do we preggers capture that feeling when our feet are swollen and the thought of standing in flats makes us wince in agony?!

Dr. Scholl's to the rescue! I have a closet full of heels and haven't worn any in months. I miss the great feeling of sliding into a killer pair of heels and modeling in front of my mirror. Between my career (social work) and my ever expanding feet I have to requalify my shoes as "sitting pretty shoes". These are the shoes that look way to good to sit in the closet but that you can only tolerate if you only sit when wearing them. I have been contemplating just how to pull of this venture. I'm going to share with you my plan of attack.

I plan on wearing heels to my baby shower and need to prepare for this venture. Thanks to a friend, I discovered that certain shoe stores will stretch shoes for you. My feet have always been wide so I was ecstatic to find this out. I think I 'm going to try this out at home. I'm going to wear the heels I plan on rocking for the shower for at least an hour a day to stretch them out. I'll place a shoe horn or something to retain the shape.

If my tootsies begin to scream I'll dip them in my foot bath and make use of the foot treatment kit I was given as a prize at a bridal shower. The foot bath I purchased from Walmart for less than $20! Then there is my personal masseuse, my honey. Hope my antics and possible discomfort spares you the same fate.

Until next time fashionistas, stay foxy!

  1. I have never tried this before but I saw a girl on YouTube stretch a pair of heels by filling a ziplock bag with water and placing the bag of water into the front of the shoe and putting the shoe in the freezer. The water freezes, expands and stretches the shoe.
